Provided Always that in the event of any accident

or derangement causing an interruption of commun-
ication, or in any other case of urgency, the
Company may themselves effect the necessary repairs
if they think fit, and shall be credited in account
with the Government for half the cost of such
repairs provided the same shall have been executed
to the satisfaction of the Surveyor General.
7.
Nothing herein contained shall be deemed
to confer any special concession to the Company
or affect the right of the Government to grant
similar privileges to any other Telegraph Company
who may apply for the same,

The Company shall not work their Telegraph
under exclusive privileges.
9.
The Company will at all times give priority
to the messages of the Government whether British
or Colonial.
10.
The Government'shall have power to take poss→
ession of the Company's Stations &c. in the event
of any emergency arising which in the opinion of the
Government may render such course expedient, subject
to reasonable compensation being given by Her Majesty's
Government for any loss that may be incurred by the
nontransmission of Commercial messages.

12.
In Case such notice for the cancelling of this
Agreement be given by the Government the Company shall
be entitled to a refund of such a fair and equitable
portion of the said sum of One hundred and sixty four
Dollars per mile, paid by them to the Government under Article 4 as may be agreed upon or as in case of differ-
ence may be settled by arbitration.

Navy on behalf of the Company, have hereunto set their

11. In case the Government or the Company shall be
desirous of cancelling this Agreement so far as it
relates to the use of the Government Telegraph by
the Company, either party shall be at liberty to do
so upon giving to the other six months' notice of
such desire, or such longer notice as may be necess-
